U15 Football St. Brendan’s -v- Rathmore

On April 7th St. Brendan’s College played Rathmore Secondary school in the Russell Cup first round. The first score of the game was by Paul O Shea. Following this a long ball passed by Darragh Lyne was tapped in by Paul O Shea. Making it 1-1 to 0. Ryan Kelliher scored twice after a good build up play by St. Brendan’s to make it 1-03 to 0-00. A great pass by Michael Lenihan to Dylan Murphy put him through and Dylan finished superbly for St. Brendan’s second goal. Caolan Ryan was replaced by Adam Kissane after he picked up an ankle injury. The Sem continued to take advantage of the wind for the remainder of the first half, with Dylan Murphy scoring his second goal. At half time it was St. Brendan’s College 3-13 to Rathmore’s 2 points. Rathmore’s low point scoring was a result of outstanding defending, tackling and cutting out of passes by Evan Smith, Mark Cooper, Conor Sheahan, Peter O’Sullivan, Gary O Conor and Adam Kissane and the superb fielding by Darragh Lyne and Paul O’Shea.

In the second half with continuing worsening conditions Rathmore went into all out attack however St.Brendan’s managed to defend well. The introduction of Subs : Liam Spillane, Tadhg Doolan, Aaron Flynn, Eoin Moynihan, Darragh O Leary and Adam Kissane ensured that St.Brendan’s continued to dominate the second half and finish with a final score of 4-17 to 1-4.
