The Voyage Continues

St. Brendan’s students… the voyage continues!

Sean Coffey, the newly appointed Principal of St. Brendan’s College, Karen Rice the Career Guidance teacher, Mr. Jim O’Brien, Deputy Principal and Mr. Hugh Rudden, Year Head to the outgoing sixth year class  were on hand to give some last minute advice to Shane McCarthy, who is beginning Business Information Systems Degree in U.C.C., David Lucey who also sets off forU.C.C. to study Medicine, Jonathan Lyne Roberts who will shortly begin Nursing Studies as a P.L.C. student of Tralee Community College and Conor O’Callaghan who begins a Business Degree in C.I.T.  Ms. Rice along with her colleague Mr. Rory O’Connor in the Guidance Department worked closely in facilitating placement in courses best suited to the aptitude and interest of each particular student. “Whether a student is targeting a place on an apprenticeship, in an Institute of Technology or a University Programme we endeavour to allow every student make informed decisions about their particular course.”

For the staff of the College September is always a time of mixed emotion, delight for our students who have achieved so well, tinged with a certain sadness that another cycle of boys has gone from the life of the school community.  Year Head, Hugh Rudden, was particularly proud of the achievement and indeed the holistic development of this years’ sixth year cohort and for all that they added to the tapestry of St. Brendan’s during their five years as students.

And so the cycle begins once more as the 2011.12 Leaving Certificate students of St. Brendan’s begin a most important and enriching year in their lives!
