St. Brendan’s students’ Diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Four excited St. Brendan’s students, Dylan Vaughan, Darragh McCarthy, David O’Donoghue and Adam O’Connor  returned to school this week from their role as helpers at the Diocesan pilgrimage

R.E. Teacher Paul Barden, who coordinated the boys’ trip, believes that the Pilgrimage is a chance for our teenage students to give something back to the community from which they come.  They are continuing in the long tradition of St. Brendan’s students who offer their time and talents to those pilgrims who need special care.  The pilgrimage provides a life experience that will stand to the boys that will stand to them in the years ahead and contributes greatly to the holistic development.

Principal Sean Coffey sees the true value of volunteerism in the manner in which the boys recount their experiences during the five day trip. “without doubt the boys reaction was living evidence of our belief that it is in giving that we receive.  The boys worked diligently and yet benefited hugely from the experience” he said.
