St. Brendan’s Model United Nations

The inaugural St. Brendan’s MUN took place on Thursday and Friday last (March 30th & 31st).  Our intrepid organising committee ensured two wonderful days of debate and challenge for the students from St. Brendan’s, St. Brigid’s, Presentation, Listowel and Mercy Mounthawk.  The MUN process is a wonderful opportunity for young people to engage in political debate and dialogue.  Researching, arguing and accepting compromise are core skills of MUN, and all present witnessed a very high standard of debate as Resolutions were proposed and considered by our students.  Over the course of the two days the students were addressed by MEP, Mr. Sean Kelly and by UN advocate, Mr. John O’Shea.  Both men are past pupils of St. Brendan’s.
