amber flagOn Friday 15th May 2015, the Amber Flag Award was presented to a group of Transition Year Students David Casey, Eoghan Gill, Cian O Sullivan, and Cathal Hickey on behalf of St. Brendan’s College. The AMBER FLAG initiative established by Suicide Aware aims to encourage Schools/Colleges/Clubs/Societies/Organisations to promote and actively bring about a culture change in the promotion of positive mental health within the educational system and other organisations. It is to enhance the already good work that is going on where mental health is concerned by offering an award. The whole school community has worked continuously to promote Positive Mental Health within our school, to

  1. Promote mental health and well being for all.
  2. Prevent mental health problems through increasing awareness, social support, reducing risk factors such as racism, bullying and isolation.
  3. Improving quality of life for students /people with mental health problems by promoting recovery through awareness and education.

This Amber Flag acknowledges the efforts made by us.
