Mark Pollock visits St. Brendan’s

The adventurer, advocate and all round inspiration Mark Pollock visited St. Brendan’smark pollock 3 on Monday last. Students from 3rd, TY, 5th & 6th year viewed the recently released documentary film “Unbreakable” which charts the series of exceptional events which led Mark to lose his sight at 22 and in 2010 sever his spinal cord in a tragic accident.  Filmed by his friend, Ross Whittaker, the documentary is at once heart-breaking and inspirational.  Mr. Pollock participated in a Question and Answers sessimark pollock 1on with the assembled students.  Highlighting his role as an advocate for research and development in the robotics, pharmacology and electrical stimulation which could serve as the avenue of hope for those who suffer from paralysis, Mr. Pollock underplays the incredible will power, determination and spirit so evident in his personal character which was so evident to all present.mark pollock 2

His visit offers a seminal message to us all in developing our own personal resilience. It was an incredible experience for all present at the Assembly.

“Unbreakable” is on limited release nationally.
