Liebherr Scholarship 2017 and information evening on Wed March 16th

As part of “Engineers Week 2017”, Liebherr is pleased to announce a new Engineering Scholarship Programme, commencing in September 2017. The Engineering Scholarship Programme will provide a unique opportunity for Leaving Certificate students in the Kerry area, to gain a 3rd level qualification in an Engineering course of their choice from the following Engineering disciplines, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Automation or Mechtronics.

Successful applicants for this scholarship will complete their CAO application as normal, and following an interview process at Liebherr the chosen candidates will benefit from an all tuition fees paid programme for the selected college. The additional benefit of being able to complete work experience during summer vacation and college placements throughout the course term will also be part of the learning experience. Upon completion a graduate role in the company is also assured.

Speaking about the launch of the Engineering Scholarship programme, Liebherr’s Technical Director Mr. Charlie McCarthy said “One of the key elements of the scholarship is the practical experience the students will gain at Liebherr during their summer and college work placements. The tradition of both a practical and theoretical education is synonymous with Liebherr.  The students will work in Engineering departments throughout the company, under the guidance of Senior Engineers where they will benefit from seeing the application of Engineering principles on modern high tech, world class products”.

As part of the launch, Liebherr will hold an Engineering Scholarship Open Evening on Wednesday March 15th from 5:30pm to provide information to interested students who are doing their Leaving Cert in 2017 together with their parents and teachers.  Liebherr Engineers from a variety of disciplines will be available on the evening to provide practical advice to students regarding Engineering as a career choice, and to show examples of their daily work.  Those who wish to attend the Open Evening should register on or before 1pm on Monday 13th March at

Karen Rice, Guidance Counsellor.
