The Sem took on I.S.K in the Kerry Colleges O’Sullivan Cup on Wednesday. After a convincing win against Mounthawk, Tralee last week the Sem went into this game as firm favourites and full of confidence. On paper the Sem looked to be the far superior side but I.S.K showed up ready for a battle.

The opening score was taken by none other than Kerry Minor Micheal Burns with a superb point from outside the 45 metre line. In the 15th minute Michael Foley slotted home from close range. The Sem put 2 more points on the scoreboard before I.S.K pulled a goal back in the 28th minute. The sides went in 1.06 a piece at half time.

I.S.K started the 2nd half the better side and before long went up 1.10 to 1.06. But Michael Foley repeated his first half antics and pulled a goal back to narrow I.S.K’s lead. This was the turning point for the Sem and they began to play how we all know the Sem can play, stunning I.S.K. The Sems 3rd goal came in the form of a penalty after Daniel O’Brien was dragged down as he tore through the I.S.K defence. David Clifford stepped up and made no mistake in putting the ball into the bottom corner.

The final score was 3.20 to 1.12 in favour of the Sem. Both sides have a lot of work to do but the Sem were deserving winners. The Sem have now secured qualification to the Semi-Final of the O’Sullivan Cup.
