Junior Cert Results 2012

Junior Certificate Results 2012 / Junior Cert Students attend High Ropes

Students at St Brendan’s finally received their Junior Certificate parchments on Wednesday last.  A time of much anticipation and anxiety for parents and students alike, the results were greeted with joy by all at the College.  Head of English Seamus Grealy was delighted with the standards achieved by students in his subject with 72% of the 96 boys achieving a C or higher in the higher level examination.  Principal Sean Coffey said that the results were excellent, a testament to the hard work put in by this year group and a solid basis for entry into Senior Cycle, overall these excellent results represented  a reward for many hours of hard work.  He paid tribute to the staff who worked for and with each one of the boys throughout the year.  Deputy Principal Jim O’Brien noted that the College was delighted for each student in his particular achievement.  It is important to recognise the spread of ability levels in any class group and to celebrate with all who worked to the best of their ability

In a break with tradition, the College, in association with its’ Parents’ Council yesterday organised an outing to the High Ropes facility at the Aghadoe Youth Hostel for the Junior Cert. class.  Celebrating results by spending hours clambering through the tree tops certainly added to the excitement of the day for all involved.  TY coordinator Brigid Lucey recognised that this is a further fantastic resource for schools and young people right on our door step, and a further opportunity for young people to engage in healthy recreation.

As each one of the 96 students have now returned to school – be it for the traditional Leaving Certificate, Leaving Certificate Applied or Transition Year –  we are reminded that the Junior Certificate is a stepping stone towards Senior Cycle but that with genuine application a great awaits these young men!.
