John Doyle Perpetual Trophy

John Doyle Memorial CupUpcoming presentation of a Perpetual Trophy in memory of John Doyle

Following the recent passing of John Doyle a number of his former classmates, conscious of the manner in which John dedicated his life to sport, have decided to pay tribute to him by dedicating a trophy in his honour.

In his time at second level John featured on many St. Brendan’s College teams, but the undoubted highlight was being a member of the all-Ireland winning Hogan Cup team of 1992.  He was an integral part of that team and is fondly remembered by his former class and teammates.

The College are delighted with the opportunity to remember John’s contribution to the life of the school and indeed to the sporting culture of Killarney and East Kerry.  It is our intention to organise an annual Gaelic Football league amongst the Transition and 5th year students of the College for the John Doyle Memorial Cup.  Furthermore, Tom Tobin of Killarney Trophy & Medals will present the school with a set of medals for this competition annually.

The cup will be formally presented to the school on Friday next, 11th October at 8 pm in the Lower Lake room at the Malton Hotel.  All John’s friends who wish to attend are most welcome on the evening.
