On Monday, 22nd May past pupil, David Cronin, now CEO of the UL Foundation spoke to the 2nd years  as part of the

Billy Vincent Awards.  The scheme targeting 2nd years at St. Brendan’s College, Killarney Community College and St. Brigid’s Secondary School aims to reward student engagement in a number of activities – team building, cooperative games, a literacy challenge, numeracy Quiz and outdoor activities.  Mr. Cronin spoke of his personal journey from St. Brendan’s and of the good works and opportunities.  He mentioned that possibilities today for young people were so great that the “sky was no longer the limit, there are footprints on the moon”.  The students were also addressed by Mr. Rory DArcy, Chairman of Trustees of Muckross House in relation to the extraordinary act of giving by the Vincent and Bourne families in handing the Muckross Estate to the State.  Students who complete the Award will receive a certificate from the Trustee.
